Games Like the Sims Social

Games Like the Sims Social

On June 14th, 2013 EA plans to shut down Sims Social, Sim City Social, and Pet Society. This decision was a devastating blow to loyal patrons of the game, especially after the shut down of their other titles Restaurant City and Country Story. The decision to shut down the games was apparently due to a lull in gamer activity and the need to reallocate resources to other projects.

Personally, this was the last straw for me. Admittedly, there was a lull in my activity on Sims Social, but it wasn't due to a lack of interest in the game. I was fed up with my game constantly crashing, or loading at a snail's pace. I never played Sim City, but as for my activity on Pet Society, I found it irritating that anything interesting had to be bought with real money with no way to earn the gold to get it.

So, before EA even announced they were shutting down the games on facebook, I had already started looking for alternatives. For those interested in still killing some time on facebook with cool simulation games check out this list and see if anything interests you.

In this game you are a young woman from the country who has moved to the city to make a life for herself. With the help of your friends you pursue your dream career, build up a fabulous wardrobe, and make your way from the slums to the glamorous part of the town.

Disney City Girl is like Sims Social because you are able to customize your character and buy clothes for her. You are also able to buy properties and furnish them. There are quests you can complete for cool items. You can visit your friends and interact with their homes and socialize with them by sending them items for quests or to decorate their home.

ConsThere isn't an option to play as a male in this game and you can't change the body shape.

You can own multiple properties but can only live in one at a time. When you move your furnishings reset to how the apartment looked before you moved in.

You need at least 6 friends on the game to get the most out of it.

Depending on your time zone you may get less votes in the Daily Look

Since it is a new game, job choices are currently limited, but this is only a temporary con.

New hairstyles and many other items require an in game currency (Gold) that costs real world money.

ProsThe game loads very smoothly and quickly and there aren't any serious glitches.

Quests are straightforward and provide the tools needed to complete them.

Players can enjoy the game without needing an extensive amount of friends playing.

There are several ways to earn gold, which is usually bought with real money.

There are several jobs to choose from and every promotion earns your character a new item.

The graphics and art are attractive and the quest stories are entertaining.

Every week there's a new quest to keep the game fresh.

The Daily Look provides an opportunity to show off your wardrobe and earn more gems.

Clothing requirements for job tasks let you utilize the clothes in your wardrobe and earn more coins.

You can now travel to other places, like Venice, Italy.

ConsYou are only given the items you choose at the very beginning of the game, everything else must be bought.

Hairstyles come in very limited colours and you have to purchase each colour in the hairstyle you want instead of being able to use colour swatches.

When you go to the beach you can't really interact with the NPCs

At this point, the items you can buy to customize your avatar and home seem a bit limited, but this will probably change in the future.

In order to get ahead in quests and in your career you are required to have a certain number of friends.
